Research grants

Previous grants held specifically related to collaborative research on workplace learning and training in the construction industry have included:

  • ‘Skill formation in the construction industry’ - for The Australian Construction Industry Development Agency (CIDA) - $120,000 (with Geoff Hayton and Hugh Guthrie, H., 1993).
  • ‘Management Skills in the Housing Industry’ - for the Australian Department of Housing and Regional Development - $80,000 (with Geoff Hayton and Hank Schaafsma, H., 1995).
  • ‘The factors that affect training demand’ - for the Office of Training & Further Education - $240,000 (with Professor Andy Smith and Geoff Hayton, 1995).

Current projects

Manage an Australian Research Council (SPIRT) funded (3 year) project conducted jointly with Professor Paul Hager—concluded at the end of 2000, into the links between KPIs and workplace reform in the Australian construction industry. Research partners included NSW Department of Public Works and Services, Civil Contractor’s Federation, Barclay-Mowlem, Multiplex, NSW CTAB and the NSW Labor Council. The research income of this project was approx. $250,000 for the 3 year period 1998-2000.
