Lucy began a PhD in Marketing at Macquarie University in mid-2009. Lucy has a Bachelor of Science, Graduate Certificate of Business, Master of Commerce (Marketing) and a Graduate Certificate of Research Methods. While studying, Lucy worked as a research assistant at the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research. Prior to her academic career, Lucy developed extensive business experience in marketing and management. She worked in senior management, area management and operations for Woolworths Liquor before becoming a grocery buyer for Woolworths Ltd. Lucy has also worked in strategy management for the marketing department at Diageo, as a Sales Rep. for DHK Liquor and as a global buyer for Surf Hardware International.

Research areas

Lucy has published on Online Social Networking, Motivation and Webethnography. Lucy also has interests in B2B Online Social Networking, Consumer Behaviour, Psychology and Linguists.

Lucy’s main research interests are in consumer behaviour, psychology and new media. Her current research is focused on exploring consumer motivations for contributing to online social networking sites. She presented her work at the 2009 and 2010 Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy Conferences.

Teaching Interests

In line with her post-graduate experience and research interests, Lucy teaches Marketing Fundamentals, Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Research.

Lecturing and Tutoring

Lucy teaches at the undergraduate level in Marketing Fundamentals, Introduction to Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Research. She also has extensive sports coaching and teaching experience in swimming, surfing and surf lifesaving.
