Profile

Prior to joining THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS in June, 2007 Chris was a faculty member at Macquarie Graduate School of Management, where he taught Strategic Management, Global Strategic Management, and Strategic Marketing. Prior to joining Macquarie University, he held a number of senior marketing positions in a range of industries including Office Equipment and Pharmaceuticals. He was originally a practising Veterinarian.

During his Tenure at MGSM Chris held the positions of Program Director for the MBA programs, and Director of Corporate and Executive Education – the commercial arm of the school. He was a member of the MGSM Executive from 2004 – 2005. He was for many years the coach of the MGSM team to the Boston Consulting Group Strategy Competition – achieving national honours in 2004.

Chris’s PhD was awarded in 2006 for a thesis entitled “Predictors of Success of Strategic Retreats: The impact of organisational approaches to strategic planning, event design, and demographic factors – a study in microstrategy”. He has  researched and published in a number of areas concerned with strategy (particularly strategy as practice) and marketing His current research interests include strategy as practice and the application of strategy in professional industries.

Chris is highly regarded as a management educator, and has consulted to a wide range of companies in a variety of industries as an educator, facilitator, and speaker. In 1999 Chris was awarded a Macquarie University Outstanding Teacher Award.
