Two, one for each part of the double degree.
Do the new degrees have professional accreditation like the old degrees?
Each discipline has, or is in the process of seeking, accreditation for the new degrees which replace degrees that are currently accredited.
What will appear on my academic record/testamur?
For the Bachelor of Commerce which has a choice of 10 majors, the name of the major will appear on the testamur e.g. Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) will mean you have a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing.
Can I transfer to the new degrees before the end or 2012
Yes, you can transfer to the 2010 degrees and programs before the end of 2012, if you decide it is in your best interests to do so. However, you must seek academic advice before transferring.
What criteria apply for transferring into a new program?
Generally speaking, you will be able to transfer to a directly equivalent degree automatically on application.
Are there any changes to existing units of study (as opposed to degrees and majors)?
All units of study have been reviewed for 2010 offerings. Some have changed and most undergraduate units now have a value of 3 credit points. From 2011, all undergraduate units at Macquarie will be worth 3 credit points. See the summary of the changes to Faculty of Business and Economics units. Contact your department to confirm how these changes affect pre 2010 degrees and majors.
Will it take longer for me to finish my degree if I transfer a new degree?
Not necessarily, you need to check the requirements of the new degree and to what extent the units you have so far can be used to meet these requirements.
Do these changes affect the Honours programs?
The Honours programs are currently under review. However, for the moment, the existing rules continue for Honours.
I am an international student will this affect my visa?
Your visa will be only affected if you transfer to new program.
How are my exemptions and credit for previous study affected if I transfer to the new degrees?
Since exemptions and credit for previous study apply at a unit level, your existing exemptions and credit can be used to meet requirements of the new degree where they are the same as your old degree.
I am a DFEE student, can I change/ transfer to the new degrees?
DFEE students cannot change to new curriculum automatically.
If you are currently a DFEE student and you want to transfer to the new degrees, you will need to reapply through UAC for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for the new degree offered. If your application is successful, you can apply for credit for prior studies for units you have completed which are the same as the new curriculum.
I am not sure what I should do, who should I see?
If you are concerned about what to do, please seek academic advice as soon as possible.
