Workshop Two, Session Three
Reflections on a Critical Perspective on Accounting and Jeremy Bentham's Accounting: the relevance of critical history
Presenter: Jim Haslam
In the presentation, I reflect on the methodological issues debate in Accounting and the meaning of a critical perspective. I illustrate my own critical perspective with reference to work (with Sonja Gallhofer) on the writings of Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832), the English philosopher understood most often today as the founder of 'utilitarianism'.
