Bachelor of Marketing Accreditation

Macquarie University's Faculty of Business and Economics has announced an Australian first with accreditation by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) for its Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing).

The course has now been quality assured by an independent industry body and graduates will be encouraged to become professional members of the Australian Marketing Institute.

Dr. Steven D'Alessandro, Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, discusses what the accreditation means for students and their potential employers in the industry.

"For students, this means they can have confidence they are receiving an industry relevant degree, that it will increase networking opportunities and professional development within the marketing industry."

"Employers will also benefit as graduates will be career ready and they will be assured that, when hiring a Macquarie University graduate, they have employed someone who has received an education with industry recognition."

In order to gain accreditation by the AMI, Macquarie University went through the process set out by the Institute including a review of the program and documentation by an accreditation team. This required an assessment of the programs objectives and meeting with academics, administrators and receiving students feedback about the degree.

AMI CEO, Mark Crowe spoke about what the accreditation means for the future of Australian business.

"We're delighted that the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University has gained the distinction of being first to market in what is a major milestone for the marketing profession."

He said it represented a step into the future for Australian business as well as for Macquarie University and next year's university entrants looking to a professional future in marketing, media or advertising.

The Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) offered through Macquarie University's Faculty of Business and Economics is a flexible degree aimed at students wanting a career in:

  • marketing
  • advertising
  • media
