Local high school benefits from Macquarie expertise

As part of the Australian Business Week (ABW) program at Girraween High School, Macquarie's Dr Chris Baumann talked to year 10 students about developments with the Asian market and in particular about the term "the Asian Century".

Dr Baumann used practical examples like Psy / Gangnam Style, cars and technology to engage his audience in an interactive way and made it easy for the students to relate to the business world around them.

Students also learned about a fundamental technique of marketing - how to build a brand image to create the desire for a product or service.

Lastly, Dr Baumann offered some inspirational thoughts for students to reflect on the future study and career path they want to aspire.

Dr Baumann commented that it was a delight to be presented with the opportunity to speak at Girraween High School and engage with current high school students by providing a valuable learning experience and helping them explore their individual talents and abilities.

Dr Chris Baumann is a Senior Lecturer of Marketing in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University. Dr Baumann is the recipient of a number of teaching and research awards, with numerous publications. Dr Baumann has expertise in brand management & marketing, ethnic marketing, competitiveness and customer loyalty.
