Professional Development / Short Courses
Purpose of the program
The Professional Education Program provides a means of studying postgraduate units on a single unit (non-award) basis without being enrolled in a postgraduate degree. The units available for study on a non-award basis include a range of units in accounting, finance, economics, marketing, commercial law and information technology and systems. Units can be taken from the following programs subject to the availability of places:
- Master of International Business
- Master of Commerce
-
- in Accounting
- in Finance
- in Business
- in Marketing
A student who successfully completes one or more units from these programs will receive an official academic transcript from Macquarie University showing the units completed. Also, non-award units completed can be counted towards a postgraduate degree should a subsequent and successful application for one of the above programs be made.
Teaching program
Units from the available programs are offered at the Macquarie University campus on a semester basis. Most of the units are conducted in a lecture/seminar format meeting once each week during the teaching period. Assessment for most units consists of a combination of weekly assignments, a major project, general participation and end-of-semester examination. MCom and MIB units are usually offered only once per year, although high demand units are offered in both semesters.
Eligibility
Persons seeking non-award enrolment in postgraduate units must be appropriately qualified. This usually means prior undergraduate level studies in the area have been successfully completed.
