Secretary, South Coast Labour Council
Arthur is a graduate of the University of Wollongong, with a background as an officer of the NUS and in the Commonwealth Public Service. He has been secretary of the SCLC since 1998.
The South Coast Labour Council is the peak union body on the South Coast of NSW and covers the area from Helensburgh, South of Sydney to the Victorian border and across to the Southern Highlands and adjoining tablelands in the west.
The membership of the Council are its 29 affiliated trade unions covering all areas of work whose combined total membership in the region amounts to more than 50,000 working people.
The Council is recognised as a regional branch council by the state peak body, Unions NSW and also has a direct affiliation with the ACTU.
It has played a leading role in addressing the issue of climate change.
