PhD seminar success
Innovative ideas and fresh research were showcased at the AFAS-CFR PhD Workshop held on 30 October at Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
In the one-day workshop, 11 students completed presentations on diverse topics, including the emerging African stock market, and privatisation of annuity markets in Malaysia.
Rangga Handika was selected best speaker for his presentation on Modelling Spikes in Electricity Markets – the Impact of Load, Weather and Capacity, winning a $50 Amazon voucher provided by the Centre for Financial Risk.
The workshop reflected the ongoing support given to PhD students in all fields of applied finance as they pursue their research interests. It also encouraged an exchange of ideas, while offering an important opportunity for educational and social interaction among students at different stages of their research.
The workshop was arranged by Dr Yuri Salazar, postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Financial Risk and Dr Jiaqin Wei, postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies.
