Welcome from the Associate Dean
Associate Professor Lorne Cummings
Welcome to the 7th annual Higher Degree Research EXPO in the Faculty of Business and Economics.
This year's conference is a 2 day event.
The Doctoral Colloquium comprises a series of classes complementing the extensive research skills training programs delivered by the faculty during the academic year.
The master class sessions are inspired by the faculty mission statement "continually improving our reputation, relevance and resilience in a changing world" and provide our PhD candidates with extensive "soft skills."
The topics of the 4 sessions - Resilience, Relevance, Reputation and Result, include:
- academic integrity
- interview skills
- elevator pitch
- nutrition for well-being
- writing a good CV.
A research intensive day which brings together early career researchers, academic colleagues and industry partners to promote and advance research in the Faculty of Business and Economics.
This year our keynote speaker is Dr. Ross Gittins, the economics editor for The Sydney Morning Herald and an economic columnist for The Age. Ross will present a lecture centered around the Economic Importance of Commercial Research.
The keynote address will be followed by 9 concurrent sessions with over 121 PhD candidates presenting their current research projects. Presentations this year cover a diverse range of topics, including:
- financial risk
- economic development
- corporate governance
- international financial reporting standards
- relationship marketing
- human resource management.
An enormous amount of work goes into organising the EXPO each year. Our most sincere thanks and appreciation go to everyone for their involvement and support of Higher Degree Research in the Faculty of Business and Economics.
