Macquarie provides an array of opportunities for students to broaden and strengthen their skills including exchange programs, student groups and Macquarie University’s Global Leadership Program, just to name a few. This in conjunction with the technical knowledge and skills taught by academics that have extensive industry experience allows students to become better business professionals. The university’s flexible study options allowed me to select suitable times for classes as well as the choice to study part-time.
I chose to study a Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting as I enjoyed Business Studies in high school and decided to pursue a career as an Accountant for the many different career paths available along with the ability to work overseas. My degree provides an excellent foundation for further study as it meets the accreditation requirements of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the IPA. Thus, allowing me to further my technical skills to establish a successful career. For students who are unsure of which path to undertake, Macquarie’s Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting provides a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of accounting including management accounting, financial accounting, taxation law and auditing. Additionally, my degree allows me to select elective units allowing me to travel overseas and experience different cultures and business environments.
My overall university experience has been outstanding. My involvement with student groups has certainly enhanced my leadership and teamwork skills. Furthermore, the ability to network with industry professionals has led me to obtain a role as a Graduate Auditor within the public sector.
